| As part of the Chesapeake Baysox Jewish Community Day at the ballfield, Chabad of Bowie will set up a kosher concession stand serving up authentic kosher deli foods for everyone to try. Rabbi Eli Baron with the Chabad of Bowie told Patch that members of the local community have been asking for some time now, "Why isn't there a kosher deli in Bowie?" The perfect time to share kosher foods with the community would be at the Jewish Community Day at the ballpark, leaders decided. |

Proposed membership includes representatives of Multicultural NSW, the Premier’s Department, the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, the Rabbinical Council of NSW, Chabad of Bondi and, through Chabad of Bondi, a nominee representing the families and survivors of the attack. |

| Rabbi Mendy Wenger and his wife, Chaya of The Sonoma Valley Chabad Jewish Center welcomed approximately 40 people at 595 Fifth Street West in Sonoma on Sunday, Aug. 9 to celebrate the opening of the first location of the community organization in the Valley. Guests and supporters of the Chabad Center hung the “mezuzah,” a scroll inscribed with a verse from the Torah, at the door and cut a red ribbon as community members cheered and clapped. |

| Opposition Leader and Member for Vaucluse Kellie Sloane MP met with survivors of the Bondi Beach terror attack this morning, at an event held at Central Synagogue and organised by Shoshana Eisner of Operation Golda. Sloane had been among the first on the scene at Bondi in the immediate aftermath of the attack, arriving with Rabbi Mendy Litzman of Hatzolah. "I didn't go as the member for Vaucluse or the leader of the opposition. I went because people were in trouble, and I wanted to lend a hand," Sloane said. |

| The Winter Park Zoning Board members voted unanimously to approve Winter Park's first permanent synagogue, despite many complaints about traffic and parking. The new synagogue would provide a "forever home" for Chabad of Greater Orlando, said Rabbi Dovid Dubov, and would be the only synagogue currently operating in Winter Park. Rabbi Sholom Dubov said, "I was very pleased to be present when the unanimous approval was given to us by the Planning & Zoning Board of Winter Park. |

| Park East, founded in 1890 and located on the Upper East Side, and Chabad of the Upper East Side announced the collaboration in Friday statements to members. Park East will host most of Chabad of the Upper East Side’s activities, Chabad’s Rabbi Ben Tzion Krasnianski will serve as an associate rabbi at the synagogue and Rabbi Yosef Wilhelm, who directs Chabad Young Professionals Upper East Side, will be an assistant rabbi. |

| A Chabad house in Colombia was damaged in the earthquake that struck the South American country this week. There were no injuries, but the roof and walls of the building in the town of Salento, located nearly 200 miles west of Bogota, were badly damaged by the tremor. “Thank God, we emerged unscathed from the earthquake, and that is the miracle for us,” Chabad Rabbi Shmuel Friedman told JNS Wednesday. “Now we are dealing with the damage and the repairs so that we continue to be an open house to Jewish visitors from around the world.” |

| It's hard to ignore the construction taking over Cocoanut Avenue in downtown Sarasota. Now, the Chabad of Downtown SRQ has its own remodeling to do. "See, that outer glass got shattered. You see the, like, the leftovers of it right there and that jagged that got shattered," Rabbi Levi Steinmetz said. The Sarasota Police Department stated that officers arrested Brayton Laschinger, 30, of Sarasota for vandalism of the synagogue. The incident happened on Wednesday, July 26, where video footage showed that Laschinger was wearing a blue towel over his head and face, officials stated. |
